It has been reported that Julian Assange has been kidnapped from his London home. No one appears to know the whereabouts of Assange and rumours are that he has been kidnapped by the CIA or perhaps by an outlaw Australian group who are determined to take him home.

Mike Huckabee, who ran unsuccessfully for the Republican nomination at the 2008 election is one of a number of people demanding the severest punishment possible for those behind the leak of secret documents. Also, Sarah Palin has called for Julian Assange to be “hunted down”. Furthermore, an adviser to the Canadian prime minister has echoed her comments. These people have been reported to have said that anything less than execution for Julian Assange is too kind.

The Australian outlaw group, called the Ned Kelly group, are located in Julian Assange’s home state of Queensland where people are known to speak their minds bluntly. They distrust big government as something that could be corrupted if not watched carefully. WikiLeaks was created around core values against such corruption. The idea, conceived in Australia, was to use internet technologies in new ways to report the truth.

This group believes that WikiLeaks coined a new type of journalism: scientific journalism. It works with other media outlets to bring people the news, but also to prove it is true. Scientific journalism allows you to read a news story, then to click online to see the original document it is based on. That way you can judge for yourself: Is the story true? Did the journalist report it accurately? The Ned Kelly group believes that democratic societies need a strong media and WikiLeaks is part of that media. The media helps keep governments honest. WikiLeaks has revealed some hard truths about the Iraq and Afghan wars, and broken stories about corporate corruption.

It is not clear who has kidnapped Julian Assange because thegarlic has not been able to corroborate the story through scientific journalistic means.

Update 22 June 2012 — We have now learned that Julian was kidnapped by the Ecuadorian Embassy in London.
