During the last few months, the Republican Party and their candidate Mr Romney have been pushing hard for the women’s vote since the polls suggest that President Obama has a 49-43 lead amongst female voters.

Mitt Romney’s staff have questioned the poll results saying that although they did not want to go through the poll methodology but the poll agency sampled a biased sample and they re-biased the same sample. Therefore the results of that poll are pretty flawed.

Mitt Romney’s staff listed several policy initiatives for women including their objection to Obama’s birth control mandate because the mandate violated religious conscience protections. Romney staff also pointed out that President Romney will remove discrimination by outlawing fair pay for equal work, toss about 20 million people (mostly women) off Medicaid and cut child care, health care and food assistance for about 20 million children. A number of Republican Congresswomen support these initiatives stating that they believe women to be self-confident and didn’t see their lives as a product of government handouts.

Some democrats suggest most of Mitt Romney’s proposed changes have an underlying argument that women are trying to defraud the government and simply can’t be trusted. The democrats have cited the example of the Violence Against Women Act, which was passed in 1994 and was reauthorized twice without fuss, and which expressly rolls back protections for Native American women, immigrants, and gay Americans.

The initiatives from the Republicans have had some impact on Romney’s polls. Romney was leading Obama in the female voters but has now fallen behind. Frustrated with the poor poll, Romney’s staff are suggesting an extreme measure that will involve Romney undergoing plastic surgery so that he will look more like Johnny Depp. A high power committee chaired by Ann Romney will make the final decision. It has been rumored that there is considerable tension between the committee members about which male actor female voters like the best and which features of the actor attract them. The chair of the committee is likely to have the final say.
