UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi has refuted allegations against her son-in-law. She said that there has been no misuse of power by her son-in-law, Robert Vadra. Sonya Gandhi further added that there has been no misuse of either the office of the Gandhi family or any misuse by Vadra. She said that her son-in law is a businessman and his transactions are transparent and above board.
It has been noted by opposition parties that Vadra purchased millions of dollars worth of properties over the past four years and his current worth is more than $100 million. His wealth has grown by a factor of close to 100 during the rule of the government that Sonia Gandhi leads as UPA President..
As a member of India’s widely revered “first family”, Mr Vadra is close to the centre of power. He is sometime called India’s son-in-law. Sonia Gandhi is known to play a major role in decision-making on big policy issues.
In Indian families, the status of the son-in-law is very high and very special. The relationship between Sonya Gandhi and her son-in-law Robert Vadra clearly shows this.
