Tropical storm Isaac may disrupt the Republican National Convention to be held in Tampa, Florida during the week of 27 August. With roughly 50,000 people headed to Tampa for the Convention starting Monday, there is heightened interest in the path of the storm.

The tropical Storm has brought heavy winds and rain to Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands on Thursday. The storm is expected to reach hurricane strength before reaching the Dominican Republic, Haiti and the Florida Keys. According to the National Weather Service, Isaac’s projected path would most likely take it just to the west of Tampa as a Category 1 hurricane on Monday. The storm may have winds upto 85 mph disrupting the national covention. The storm will make landfall in the Florida Panhandle sometime Tuesday. One computer model has had the storm pass right over Tampa.

In what has been called blatant pandering to the Hispanic vote, President Obama disallowed Isaac to increase to hurricane strength until after it had passed over the already suffering country of Haiti. Ryan dismissed the effectiveness of this tactic noting that Florida has more hispanics than the Dominican Republic and Haiti combined.

Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan also condemned President Obama’s support for the tropical storm. Paul Ryan noted that one could see from the projected path of the storm that it was a left-inspired storm going further left. Mr Ryan noted that he was not surprised by President Obama’s support for the storm. Just like all his other policies that he has supported, Isaac would destroy jobs and destroy many homes of the very wealthy people living in Florida Keys. Paul Ryan further noted that once Mitt Romney becomes the President of the United States he will retrospectively ban such leftist storms.

President Obama has supported Isaac and is hoping that Isaac or a similar storm going west may bring rain to the midwest and help break the serious drought in that part of the country.
